Cape Cod Cabaret Festival Poster March 2016This year we are thrilled to blend "Frank Sinatra" (featuring Brian De Lorenzo) with "Judy Garland" (featuring Hannah Carrita) on Friday night and Louis Sacco swinging his New York Cabaret Show with Tedi Marsh (and unexpected guests) on Saturday night! Whereelse can this magic happen? Do it at Cotuit!

The annual Cape Cod Cabaret Festival is one of the most popular annual events at the Center. Eachyear the two-day event celebrates cabaret singing by bringing together local and regional artists. Each evening has its own flavor and audiences are guaranteed a great show.

On Friday, March 25, Bostonian Brian De Lorenzo will pay tribute to Frank Sinatra, and a local favorite, Hannah Carrita, who grew up on our stage, will pay tribute to the young Judy Garland. “I was so excited to be asked to perform the Judy Garland tribute” says Hannah Carrita. “When I was 4 years old, I talked my way into voice lessons at the Cape Cod Conservatory. The teacher who agreed to take me on always used to say that I reminded her of Frances Gumm, who grew up to be Judy Garland. So I guess I have always felt an affinity for her, because she was a baby belter who grew into her big voice, and hopefully I have done the same!”

Professional actor, singer, recording artist, and Talent America’s 2001 “Performer of the Year” Brian De Lorenzo performs his tribute to Sinatra on Friday. Millions of people are fans of Frank Sinatra, butrelatively few singers do justice to him. De Lorenzo takes the songs of the legendary performer and interprets them with his own style.

Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime -- Celebrating the music of Dean Martin & the Rat Pack

Dean Martin was the classic handsome crooner of the mid 20th Century. He was the essence of "cool."

Martin began performing in Las Vegas with a group of close friends who were members of the legendary Hollywood clique known as the “Rat Pack” which included Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis, Jr. They epitomized "the high life." "The satisfaction that I get out of working with these two bums is that we have more laughs than the audience has," Martin said.

Later on, Liza Minnelli joined the act. In 1964, Martin had the #1 hit, “Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime.”

Dean Martin died of lung cancer in 1995, but his wit and love of life lives on through his music and friendships.

This year’s cast includes Leigh Barrett, Brian De Lorenzo, Hildy Grossman, Paula Markowicz, and Scott Wahle. Emmy Award-winning arts and entertainment critic Joyce Kulhawik is Master of Ceremonies. The production is directed by Lisa Rafferty, writer of the hilarious MOMologues, with additional staging by Ilyse Robbins. Music direction is by Tim Evans. Tickets are available for $40 and $100. 140 Clarendon St
Boston, MA 02116 [map]

I Could Have Danced All Night honors brilliant Broadway lyricist and playwright Alan Jay Lerner, who lost his life to lung cancer. He is best known for his legendary partnership with composer Frederick (Fritz) Loewe. The genius pair teamed up to produce iconic musicals, including My Fair Lady, Camelot, Gigi, Brigadoon, and Paint Your Wagon. Lerner also collaborated with other composers, creating some of the most glorious Broadway music in history. His induction into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame noted, “Lerner’s lyrics were marked by warmth and civilized urbanity, coupled with the highest order of craftsmanship.” This show highlights Lerner’s well known hits and standards, such as “Almost Like Being in Love”, “The Rain in Spain”, “Gigi”, “On the Street Where You Live”, “They Call the Wind Maria”, “I Could Have Danced All Night”, “Camelot”, “If Ever I Would Leave You”, “I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face,” and “On a Clear Day,” as well as a few less-known jewels. Having achieved considerable fundraising success since the cabaret series was established in 2009, the annual concert draws the finest musicians and celebrities in the Boston region to perform, all whose lives have been touched by lung cancer. This year’s cast includes Leigh Barrett, Brian De Lorenzo, Hildy Grossman, Paula Markowicz, and Scott Wahle. Emmy Award winning arts and entertainment critic Joyce Kulhawik is Master of Ceremonies. Evoking the glamour, sensuality, and decadence of Manhattan in the roaring twenties, The Wild Party chronicles an evening in the life of Queenie and Burrs, lovers and fellow vaudeville performers. To test the limits of their fierce and hot-blooded relationship, Queenie throws the wildest, most hedonistic party New York has ever seen. However, as the reckless and alluring guests arrive - all with stories of their own - seduction gives way to unbridled passion, and what began as an evening of games and titillation ends in violence. The Wild Party, with a driving score by Andrew Lippa, blends contemporary music with the sounds of the Jazz Age. Brian De Lorenzo plays the role of Phil.
